I hope that this email finds you well. The Executive Board and I continue to have ongoing discussions about the re-opening of school and the impacts to our collective bargaining agreement. The district plans to hold a Facebook Live session this evening.
The district is required to have three different plans by July 31, 2020, to the State Education Department and have them posted on www.pmschools.org. Currently, we’re focusing on the hybrid plan and the remote plan. These have yet to be finalized.
This is a very fluid situation, due to ongoing discussions the district will be presenting the Question and Answer document which came out on Monday, as well as any changes. The documents the district received from the State Education Department on Thursday has caused the need for some of these changes. As the district gets closer to having a schedule for hybrid learning, and resolves many of the obstacles, (who attends on which days, creating a master schedule, traveling teachers, special education services, and the list goes on) we’ll be able to better negotiate the parameters of our work day.
The re-opening of school is going to be based upon the infection rate for our region. I appreciate all of your patience and understanding as we negotiate on your behalf. I will continue to update you as information becomes available.
